Welcome to Irene Soriano, CHHA for Culver City! She has 14 years of experience as a Certified Home Health Aide. Her work experience varies from Convalescent home to Hospice. Irene loves going to the movies and being a soccer mom. She offers a great deal of knowledge and experience in her role and we are very excited to have her on board with us. She also is bilingual in Spanish and will be permanently positioned in the Los Angeles area. She enjoys helping patients and their families and will fit right in to Hospice Touch’s mission, goals, and values. She will be orienting in the HR office and small conference room of the Santa Ana office today, and tomorrow she will be in Culver City.

Hospice Touch on behalf of Healing Hearts Foundation is asking for your help for a family facing hard times. They reside in Orange County and are in dire need of our assistance and support. One of the parents is terminally ill and is currently receiving Hospice Touch services; while the other parent is not able to work due to being the caregiver and mother of six children.

HOSPICE TOUCH HISTORY

Hospice Touch was founded in 2002 and certified in 2003 as one of Orange County’s first hospice programs to actively integrate with managed care organizations and physician medical groups. In the decade since Hospice Touch was founded, it has become a leader in hospice services by partnering with medical groups such as Talbert Medical Group and Monarch Healthcare. Hospice Touch remains steadfastly committed to serving patients and finding solutions that enable innovative treatments. Hospice Touch works to ensure that terminally ill patients and their families from all walks of life have ready access to compassionate and effective end-of-life care.

Benefits of Hospice on quality of life

It has been shown that hospice and palliative care patients live an average of one month longer than terminally ill patients who do not choose hospice care. A 2007 study that considered six disease categories showed that four of the six had longer lengths of survival.

A study in 2010 published in the New England Journal of Medicine showed that lung cancer patients receiving early palliative care lived 23.3% longer than those who put off palliative care. The study theorized that the outcome of earlier referral to hospice may improve the management of symptoms resulting in lengthened survival.
